Job description
As an Area Sales Manager, you will focus on actively acquiring new customers and expanding the client base in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) and Poland. You will work with international clients and multinationals across various sectors, including food, pet food, powders, and liquids for diverse applications. Your responsibilities include identifying and approaching potential customers, presenting high-quality solutions, and closing new contracts. Additionally, you will maintain relationships with existing clients, leveraging cross-selling and up-selling opportunities. You will also develop strategic sales plans and conduct market research to identify new opportunities.While some technical knowledge is required, you will be supported with detailed technical expertise. This ensures that you and your team can achieve the best possible technical and commercial solutions.
Your key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Building, expanding, and maintaining relationships with (existing) partners
- Managing and overseeing local agents, improving, expanding, or replacing them as needed
- Identifying local sales opportunities and translating market needs into business opportunities
- Connecting the right people internally and externally to ensure sales project success
- Finalizing deals, including handling all contract details, striving for optimal outcomes for all parties
- Communicating effectively at various levels, both internally and externally, positioning yourself as a long-term business partner
- Regularly visiting (potential) clients, partners, and relevant trade fairs
- Working collaboratively in an enthusiastic team, supporting each other to grow VDL further
Background
- Bachelor’s level education and thinking ability, preferably with a completed degree
- 5-7 years of commercial experience in a similar environment, with an affinity for the DACH region
- Eager to proactively acquire new clients and driven to achieve growth
- Entrepreneurial, creative, results-oriented, sharp, and hands-on
- Strong communication skills at various levels, with active listening ability
- A team player capable of working independently
- Fluent in Dutch, German, and English
- Willing to travel approximately 40% within your region
