Job description

As a ‘Software Manager,’ you will be responsible for further implementing the strategy of the Software department, leading a team of about 30 colleagues (with university-level software engineers). You will contribute to functional solutions for customer orders and assess the feasibility of these solutions with your team. The Software department supports the Service department by facilitating customers through second-line support, and the 'Coordinator Remote Control' also falls under your leadership. You will ensure the management of the current control platforms (Beckhoff, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Bosch, and Keba) and guide the migration process to a single standard platform (Beckhoff) for the various machines and systems, using a roadmap.

Your main tasks and responsibilities include:
  • Systematically implementing the chosen vision and strategy for software/control systems
  • Better utilizing project repetition to improve and ensure quality
  • Continuously improving; structuring and standardizing platforms & defining and executing methods and processes
  • Daily management of the Software department, planning, and communication through regular meetings
  • Establishing uniform methods to make the software independent of individuals
  • Facilitating and managing mechatronic collaboration within the engineering teams
  • Reducing software engineering hours per project
  • Structuring and managing existing platforms, guiding further developments, and rolling out the software framework

Background

  • Higher vocational/academic level of thinking and a completed technical education
  • Relevant leadership experience, preferably in manufacturing
  • Experience in managing engineers and understanding the technical aspects of software
  • Experience with motion control (servo) systems, PLC platforms, and HMI and Vision systems is an advantage
  • A strong personality who can convincingly communicate your vision
  • Ability to bring the strategic direction of the Software department to practical implementation
  • Aiming for high efficiency, effectiveness, and quality through continuous improvement, modularity, and standardization
  • Analytical, resourceful in solving support questions, and a 'first-time-right attitude'
  • As a hands-on, decisive people manager, you seek collaboration, are open in communication, motivating towards your team, straightforward, and approachable at all levels (by being present on the shop floor)
